Mollisol

Mollisols have developed on grasslands under vegetation htat has extensive fibrous roots systems. The pre-settlement begetation of Nebraska is grassland. The topsoil of Mollisols is usually dark and rich with organic matter, giving it a lot of natural fertility.

Ultisol

Ultisols develop under very moist conditions in warm climates. They are intensely weathered soils of humid areas.

Entisol

Entisols are soils with little profile (horizon) development. Although Entisols can be found in Nebraska with unstable environments, such as the Sandhills, the profile shown in the image is more developed.

Oxisol

Oxisols are found in highly weathered tropical and subtropical soils. Nebraska is NOT in a tropical and subtropical climate.
