Soil Horizons

Two main scenarios will result in the formation of an O horizon – saturated , anaerobic conditions or high production of leaf litter in forested areas. Anaerobic conditions slow the decomposition process and allow organic material to accumulate. This is not the case here. The B horizon (red area) is so thick in depth that the C horizon is not visible.

Horizons A, E, and B are present on the Bama soil. Notice the thin A horizon (0-15 cm), which slowly transition into an E (15-25 cm), and a C horizon below (> 25 cm).
