Introduction - Events

Transformation has been described as a 'hit and miss' technique. There are many goals that a genetic engineer must accomplish to obtain a successful 'event' that will lead to a marketable line. However, they have little or no control over some of the factors that affect their success. Of the few cells that are actually transformed during the transformation process, very few will have all the characteristics necessary to become a marketable event. This lesson will explain the criteria that determine a successful event.
